And now for something completely different — the rest of our Californian adventure, from Napa Valley to the Bay. These are the leftover shots from a few different places we visited making our way to San Francisco.
Following the advice from my good friend Ballio, we spent a night in Yountville for some Napa Valley vibes. Always wanted to visit, largely to quench my curiosity about The French Laundry, owned by chef Thomas Keller.
Ever since I read about it years ago on “Life, on the Line”, a book by Grant Achatz and his business partner Nick Kokonas, I’ve admired the place and stories about it. The restaurant and surrounding area felt much more subdued and simple than I expected, but from the peek I took inside, it looked unreal .
The next day we drove to San Francisco through valleys filled with wineries, wooded areas that reminded us of home, and even made a quick stop in Sausalito before getting on to the Golden Gate Bridge.
After a couple of incredible days with Ballio and his wonderful family, it was time to wrap it up and finally see the city for a day.
In the end, we didn’t have much time to explore San Francisco, but that’s more than ok. Wouldn’t trade the magical time our families spent together (or Yosemite) for nothing else. Just perfect.
