I don’t keep a bucket list, but if I did a road trip across the US would be on the top half of that list. Above that, visiting a US National Park. What we did back in April was not a massive road trip, but it lead to one of the
emblematic parks in the world: Yosemite National Park.
We left SFO heading East towards Mariposa, crossing the bay, and slowly leaving the chaos behind. Made a couple stops along the way, but nothing that would push us further than the exhaustion and jetlag were already doing. Driving three and half hours after a twelve-hour flight is as taxing as it sounds. But also a ton of fun.
We did stop for dinner at a Black Bear Diner in Merced to give some comfort to our empty bellies. After that, the girls quickly fell asleep in the backseat of the grey Honda Civic. We carried on through the night, progressing from wide highways, to narrow state roads, and finally hitting dark and twisting rural paths that lead to our house.
The next day we were greeted by the surroundings we had missed.

We only had a couple of days to visit Yosemite, so we hopped on the car and drove into the park, stopping at June Bug Café for a quick breakfast. Along the drive, the landscape quickly changed, from vast green fields and gentle slopes to harsh and rocky cliffs.
Once inside the park, our jaws fell to the ground looking at how stunning everything was. We felt so minuscule staring at these geological giants and massive waterfalls.
It’s impossible to describe the beauty of this place, as it is capturing it in photos. The sheer scale, different sights and sounds is something that we won’t forget ever.
I’ll leave you with what I managed to capture through my lens.
