It’s official: the 50/1.4 is ruined

Trying to get a professional opinion on the screwed up 50mm f/1.4, I contacted John Hermanson @zuiko.com.
Considered by many to be the best in the world (among the very few, truth be told), in regard to Olympus bodies and Zuiko lenses repairs, I was willing to pay the listed price ($69) to get it fixed.

I informed John that I had opened the lens but had been impossible to reach inside the very first elements, as previously posted. He confirmed what I suspected…

The 1.4 (and many lenses) have elements that are either glued together or permanently mounted in the frame. If fungus is between element 2 and 3, it is beyond repair.

It’s official: the 50/1.4 is ruined. But I might have some good news coming up soon…
