Layovers aren’t generally fun: there’s lots of waiting around, often in uncomfortable positions, little to no sleep, and bad food. This one, however, was not one of those.

I had a lot of time in between flights coming from Kauai, so went for a stroll in Santa Monica. Walked around the pier, followed the coastline passing by Venice Beach, meeting some interesting characters along the way, and turning inside just before the Marina. A 7km walk I’d gladly do all over again, even though, coming in, I had no interest in LA in particular.

Having played a little bunch of GTA, I felt like I knew my way around even though it was my first time setting foot in Los Angeles — that speaks volumes for the artistry that goes into a video game. I was Trevor for a day, without the psycho part.
