As I mentioned before, a roadtrip in the US was always part of my non-existent bucket list. And back when we did our roadtrip to Yosemite, wanting to savor every second of it, we decided to give it a soundtrack.
Opened Spotify and looked up Bluegrass. I have always loved this type of music. It speaks to me on a deeper level, with all its melancholy, the harmonies, and lyrics about the simple life and longing. Maybe because in a weird way it reminds me of our Portuguese Fado.
While driving through the winding Californian roads, song after song made every sight and landscape richer. But one song stood above all others. That song was Taking Water by Billy Strings.
We became unconditional fans ever since, and turns out Billy did a big European tour last fall. We had to go. It was the perfect excuse to go back to a few familiar places, including Warpigs, and visit a few new ones. Oh, and Billy was incredible; 10/10.
