The day started like any other weekend day. Rise and shine, vigorous breakfast and a quick walk with Akira, followed by a good scrub.

Then it was time to hit the streets and stroll around a little. We wanted to see the river so ended up near Santo Amaro Docks, right below the bridge. A very popular spot on the weekends, where some crowds gather, and one I thought I knew quite well, given it’s part of my default bike ride.

On this day, however, we wanted to avoid the commotion so we crossed the pier to the other side to go off the beaten track. And there it was, right in front of our eyes: a whole new cityscape, new sights and details we’d never really noticed.

It’s all about perspective. And just like life itself, sometimes all it takes to get a new perspective is to cross the street to the other side, look up, and explore a path you’ve always wanted to but never ventured on.
